For a wedding taking place on the historical and iconic Ellis Island, we were commissioned by our clients to create a wedding invitation that was unique, creative and captured the spirit of two true New Yorkers. We fused inspiration from the Ellis Island museum like travel stamps, documents and old world elements with a modern twist and pops of color. The hand-painted map of New York City is the centerpiece of the suite with all of the couples favorite spots and landmarks rendered in beautiful detail.
Since we are a studio specializing in custom work, we put together custom pricing for each project. For your convenience, below is a brief summary of the starting prices for both our collection and custom suites:
• $2,000 is the starting price for pre-existing designs for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color. Suites with additional embellishments such as foil stamping, laser cut sleeves, pocket folders, etc. start at a higher price point of $3,000 and up.
• Custom invitations start at $2,750 for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color.
• For budgets in the $1,000 range, many of our designs can be adapted to a economical price point using flat printing.
Note: A 4-piece suite includes Invitation, Reply Card, Outer Envelope and Reply Envelope. However a suite can be customized to your needs. Most pre-existing designs you see, whether it be from our custom page or collection page, can be made into a ready to order set

Sketches
We began the process with some different variations of a wedding suite inspired by the wedding venue on Ellis Island. We drew from elements like vintage travel tickets, the architecture of the immigration museum and New York City to inspire the suite. We also proposed different techniques ranging from embossing and laser cutting to unique textures like aged linen or embossed leather paper.
Design Refinement
After establishing the look and feel of the suite, we started brainstorming ways to weave the design into the envelopes, enclosure cards and further refine it, perfecting all the details and illustrations.
Monograms
No design is ever complete without a unique monogram which is the centerpiece of the invitation suite. For Allison and David’s suite, we designed both a monogram as well as a “seal” that we used across the wedding stationery. The seal showcases a view of the Ellis Island immigration museum façade.
Design Refinement
The reply envelopes and enclosure cards continued our theme of vintage travel and old world New York.
Illustration
We created a custom watercolor illustration of the map of Manhattan with some of the couple’s favorite hot spots. Our illustration was created in a modern, painterly style which we eventually superimposed onto a vintage map of New York. The result is a blend of contemporary and old world styles.
Production
During the final refinements before printing, we optimize the geometry and line work of our art to perfectly suit the final print processes such as letterpress, foil and more.
Final Design
At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
