Lake Tahoe Wedding Invitation

We were so excited when Elisa and Ryan came to us with their vision to create unique wedding invitations inspired by La Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau styling for their Lake Tahoe destination wedding. We hand-painted a beautiful, whimsical map of Lake Tahoe which wrapped around the entire package. The invitation suite is accented by deep, rich letterpress and textural details like watercolor papers, woodgrain embossed paper and rich raspberry edge painting.

THE INSPIRATION

SKETCHES

We began the process with some different invitation directions all centering around a Belle Epoque, Art Nouveau style with touches of rustic Lake Tahoe elements. We designed elegant period border elements and combined them with crisp contemporary typography for a unique look.

ILLUSTRATION

We hand painted a custom watercolor of Lake Tahoe with icons of the wedding venue as well as some other regional highlights that were important to the bride and groom.

Monograms

No design is ever complete without a unique monogram which is the centerpiece of the invitation suite. We explored a variety of monograms ranging from classic to more contemporary styles.

Color Study

Once the couple had chosen a cover design, we experimented with a few different color combinations and options all within the palette of jewel tones.

Design Refinement

After establishing the look and feel of the suite, we extended the design to the envelopes, enclosure and reply cards and further refined it, perfecting all the details and illustrations.

Details, details, details

Every element and detail in the suite is carefully considered. We refine the design, typography and sizing on screen before preparing it for the production process

Design Extension

We also embarked on the process of extending the design to stationery for the wedding day itself from menus and programs to place cards and table cards. The result was polished and completely bespoke.

Final Design

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
